There’s big news in Sanford for local real-estate agents. RE/MAX Legacy, which has served Central Florida buyers and sellers for nearly five years, is undergoing some exciting changes that will officially kick off in January 2020. Until then, it’s all about logistics.
“I am taking my agents with me – and looking to expand our team – to our new Legacy Park office to practice traditional residential real estate while also expanding what we do in commercial real estate,” says broker Moe Musleem.
Legacy Park, a stand-alone 24,000-square-foot property located on Upsala Road in Sanford, is a five-minute drive from Moe’s current location on Sanford’s Church Street. The Legacy office on Church Street continues to operate the development and investment side of the business. The Upsala Road property now hosts RE/MAX Legacy’s main office and has undergone major renovations for a luxurious, modern twist.
Moe’s goal for this venture is two-sided: He’s getting back to his residential real-estate roots and allowing his children the opportunity to build their own legacy, so to speak.
At his new brokerage, Moe has taken the necessary steps to create an ideal workspace for his agents, and he’s built a strong foundation of resources to ensure their success. Moe has brought in his daughter-in-law Alisha, who has a degree in marketing, to implement strategies to recruit and retain agents as well as to grow the brand of the company.
RE/MAX Legacy isn’t just offering desk space to their agents, the new brokerage offers a whole lot more. Based on performance, RE/MAX Legacy is offering a no-dues, no-office-space-fee, and 95-percent-cut arrangement. And, coming soon, Moe’s agents will also have access to in-house, certified real-estate instructors in a state-of-the-art training room. There will also be a recording studio where agents can record and listen to their sales calls to learn what works and what doesn’t.
“I want to educate my agents and provide services to facilitate their customers,” says Moe, a non-compete broker, which means all of Moe’s sales leads go to his agents. “I care about the success of my agents. To me, ethics are more important than money.”
All in the Family
Moe’s real-estate brokerage is a true family business. Two of his sons and a daughter work at the firm. The once-traditional residential brokerage house quickly expanded into property management and development.
“We specialize in everything,” says Moe, noting RE/MAX Legacy handles single-family homes, multiplex property, and commercial space for both buyers and sellers. Plus, they have a reputation for negotiating top-dollar pricing.
Moe, originally from the East African nation of Tanzania, currently lives in Sanford and is moving to Lake Mary by year-end. He got started as a Realtor in 2003 under the guidance of Watson Realty and became a broker assistant by 2005.
“I moved here when I was 17, and it was not easy,” Moe recalls. He returned to Africa after the Great Recession stifled the housing industry a decade ago. “I was going to get into the steel industry, but decided to return to the United States when real estate was making a comeback.”
That’s when Moe opened RE/MAX Legacy. As the company grew, he welcomed his 24-year-old son Ali, 22-year-old son Mahdi, and 22-year-old daughter Alia aboard. After five years of growth, however, Moe is ready to return to traditional real estate.
Moe says his son Ali will be managing the Church Street location with daughter Alia, and the two will be concentrating on commercial and residential investment.
“We will be focusing on property management and property development,” explains Ali.
Ali says RE/MAX Legacy, a proud member of the Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce, has already laid the groundwork for its new direction, developing and building a 24-unit townhome, a warehouse, and a tract of seven homes, all in Sanford.
Both Ali and Alia are graduates of the Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida, giving them expert knowledge on running a business and proper asset management.
“The Rosen College taught us a lot about customer service and treating people right,” says Ali. “We are proud to implement this into our daily practice.”
