Helen Martin is an avid runner who has been an athlete all her life, but even she will admit, she rarely took the time to properly stretch her muscles. Then, at a golf event in 2014, she met the founder of Stretch Zone, and he made her an offer she couldn’t refuse.
“He asked me if I wanted to get stretched,” Helen says. “I said, ‘Sure!’ That was in March. By May, I had opened my first Stretch Zone studio.”
Helen absolutely loved the experience of being stretched by an expert stretch practitioner, and she was excited about making the Stretch Zone experience available to others. She now owns 12 Stretch Zone studios in Florida (there are more than 100 locations nationwide), and in August, she became the new owner of the Oviedo location, which is in The Strand development in Oviedo on the Park.
“This isn’t just for elite athletes, and it isn’t just for people who needed medical attention,” says Helen. “It’s for golfers who want to hit the ball farther, tennis players who want to prevent injuries, and runners who want to run faster. But it’s also for people who just want to live their lives more comfortably and pain-free.”
Just two 30-minute visits per week are all it takes for almost anyone to benefit from the unique Stretch Zone system, which uses patented equipment and more than 75 unique stretches so practitioners can stretch you from your neck down to your toes. Clients range from teenagers to centenarians.
“We basically do all the work, and you get all the benefits,” Helen says. “It’s great because everybody needs to be stretched, but nobody likes to do it. I’m even guilty of that.”
“One of the cool things about it is you get immediate results,” says Lamont Jones, general manager of Stretch Zone Oviedo. “You’ll feel nice and stretched, and that’s exactly what we want.”
Helen will vouch for that.
“For me, the stretching works because I’m incredibly busy, and in 30 minutes, I can get in, get my stretch, and feel great for the week,” she says. “I’m a pretty healthy person, but after I’ve been stretched at Stretch Zone, it just makes my whole quality of life better.”
