Country singer’s new single celebrates her local roots
Bailey Callahan, a rising country music star who hails from the Oviedo-Winter Springs community, recently released a nostalgia-tinged new single titled “Home Made.”
Bailey, a 19-year-old dynamo who now lives in Nashville, Tennessee, is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and independent recording artist. “Home Made” is a stroll down memory lane for Bailey and a musical thank-you to the people and places that molded her.
“It’s a song about the appreciation of where you come from,” says Bailey, who cowrote the single with Jared Anderson and Ryan Robinette.
In the chorus, Bailey sings:
”No matter where I go
I won’t ever change
I’ll always be the girl
That home made”
Bailey, who attended Red Bug Elementary, Tuskawilla Middle, and Lake Howell High, learned to play the guitar at age eight. It wasn’t long before she was performing at local open-mic nights, restaurants, and community events. Ever since the age of 11, Bailey longed to move to Nashville – the country music capital of the world.
After graduating from Lake Howell in 2018, Bailey promptly left Central Florida to pursue her country-music dreams.
“But, the one thing I didn’t take into consideration is that I was going to miss home,” says Bailey, who has more new music in the works.
While living in Central Florida, Bailey released two extended-play records. One of those EPs, the self-titled Bailey Callahan, charted at #43 on iTunes. Over the past two years, the always-busy young woman has played more than 300 gigs. She books her own shows and has opened for country music stars such as Jason Aldean and Luke Combs.
Bailey recently headlined a big show at Thunder on the Ridge in Haines City on the Fourth of July. Now, she has her sights set on playing at large festivals and fairs around the country. And in November, she plans to travel to Ireland, where she will not only play her first international gigs, but will also enjoy a much-deserved vacation with her family of Irish descent.
