Exploring Career Opportunities through SCPS’s ePathways

On Friday, our SCPS Community Leadership Academy had the chance to learn more about the numerous ePathways programs offered throughout our schools.

We all met at Lake Mary High School, where several ePathways facilitators explained the elementary-level computer science programs that have been integrated into classrooms, and we even had the chance to play around with the new software that our kids are using.

Later, we toured a few high school classrooms to see some of these programs in action, and witnessed the high level of student interest and engagement in each class.

Students were discussing how to be good observers in Forensic Science (super cool!), learning how to transfer a computer design in order to produce it in the Advanced Manufacturing Center,  teaching us how the school news is produced in the TV Production Lab, and collaborating on how to solve real-world problems that they are passionate about in the new PSI High class.

There are so many fantastic programs offered in our schools, from elementary all the way to high school, and ePathways is giving our students the opportunity to find their passions and explore their career paths. Many of us left today feeling grateful that our kids have these opportunities and knowing that their futures are very bright. We also left saying, “I wish classes like this were around when we were in school!”
