Having a baby is no joke. I gained 50 pounds – How does that happen? As a first-time mom and a health-conscious person, I was definitely concerned about losing the baby weight I gained while I was pregnant.

When my daughter Reagan was about six months old I decided it was time to jump back on the health boat. I started by having better eating habits. I have always been pretty aware of what’s going into my body so this wasn’t a huge adjustment. (My husband on the other hand was disappointed there would be no more pizza on a regular basis.) I also started running again. Talk about tough. Before Reagan, I was running three to four miles in under 30 minutes without stopping. Now, I couldn’t even run half a mile without feeling like I was going to throw up. This was going to be a long road.

To help me get back on track I joined BeFIT Health Studio in Lake Mary and started training twice a week with personal trainer, Jeremy. This was something totally new for me. I have been a gym-goer since I was in high-school, but I’ve never worked out with a trainer. Now a few months in, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back. On my workout days, I look forward to getting up out of my desk to get moving and I always leave feeling refreshed. The trainers at BeFIT keep the workout interesting. Every session is different and I get to try out new equipment and do creative workouts that I would never do myself. All the trainers, Jeremy, Justin, Aaron, and DJ, make the workouts fun and challenging –and it’s so much more personal. When I couldn’t find time to run because of working and being a Mom, Jeremy offered to let me borrow his jogging stroller so I could hit the pavement and not miss a run.



It’s been five months since I started working out at BeFIT. I haven’t lost all of the weight, but that doesn’t bother me. I have gained muscle and lost inches. I fit into all of my pre-pregnancy pants and I feel so much better mentally and physically. And bonus… I am now running six miles in under an hour.

My new goal: run a half marathon. Jeremy, get that jogging stroller ready. I’m going to need it!
