A pop-up art gallery that showcases local artists has sprung up in Winter Springs. But, check it out while you can, because it won't be around for long! Watercolorist Patty Kane opened Gallery on 434 a few months ago but will be closing it at the end of September. That's because the artist has decided to seize an opportunity to move into McRae Art Studios, a collective of artists in Orlando.
Gallery on 434's grand opening in May featured Patty's luminous paintings as well as the photography of Holly Manus. Patty's paintings are always on display at the gallery, which she also uses as a working studio. She will feature the work of clay artist Doug Bringle and the jewelry of Ron Nieves from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 28, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 29. Also in the spotlight will be the work of Donne Bitner's advanced watercolor students from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 23. Donne is an instructor at Crealde School of Art in Winter Park.
The two-room Gallery on 434 is located at 1 North Fairfax Avenue, Suite 100, at the corner of State Road 434 and Fairfax. Because Patty does quite a bit of plein air (outdoor) painting, she doesn't keep regular hours. You can catch her at the gallery by chance or by appointment. For details, visit ArtByPattyKane.com.
