SCPS is focused on our mission to ensure that all students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be productive citizens. - Dr. Walt Griffin, superintendent of Seminole County Public Schools.

SCPS is focused on our mission to ensure that all students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be productive citizens. Each and every day, we are committed to providing the best education possible for our students so that they’re well-prepared for the future and have the skills necessary to excel in the workforce and our global economy.

There are several recent SCPS accomplishments that I am proud to share with you. Our graduation rate for the 2017-2018 School Year is 91.7%, a 3.1% increase from the previous year and 5.6% above the state average (86.1%). Our most current graduation rate is ranked first in Central Florida districts, second of the 17 largest districts, and tenth of all Florida districts.

Two of our Magnet Schools, Idyllwilde Elementary Future Ready Academy and Wicklow Elementary Magnet School for Global Pathways, have recently been approved as candidate schools for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). These schools are currently pursuing authorization to become IB PYP World Schools. IB World Schools share the common philosophy of a commitment to high-quality, challenging, and international education.

The Magnet Schools of America, a nonprofit association, has awarded many of our magnet schools and programs awards of recognition for their high performance and academic achievement.

The following Seminole County Public Schools have been named a National Magnet School of Excellence:
Crooms Academy of Information Technology
Midway Elementary School of the Arts
Milwee Middle School – Pre-Engineering Magnet

Schools recognized as a National Magnet School of Distinction are:
Goldsboro Elementary – Math, Science & Technology Magnet School
Hamilton Elementary – Magnet School of Engineering & Technology
Lyman High School – Academy of Engineering
Seminole High School – Academy of Health Careers
South Seminole Middle School – Academy of Leadership, Law, & Advanced Studies

It is my privilege to serve as superintendent of Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS). Our premier national district continues to maintain an A rating from the Florida Department of Education. The School Board and I work diligently to ensure Seminole County Public Schools has the tools in place to sustain student growth and success, but it would be impossible to achieve our goals without the high-quality teachers, administrators, and staff in our schools and our involved and engaged families, business partners, and community members.

Thank you all for everything you do to support our students and schools.

Dr. Walt Griffin is the superintendent of Seminole County Public Schools.
