Walk on Water: Where Style Meets Personality

Lake Mary Life's community director, Samantha Taylor, finds the perfect outfits for her trip to Los Angeles at Lake Mary boutique, Walk on Water.

My name is Samantha and I am fashion challenged. I’ll admit it. I know what I like on other people, but when it comes to dressing myself, I can’t seem to get out of my rut – which means I wear my usual t-shirts/jeans, capri pants/ tank top, and a little black dress on the rare occasion that I go out at night. So as my girls’ trip to Los Angeles got closer, I took one look in my closet and panicked. I had nothing to wear! I knew exactly where I had to go – Walk on Water!

As I walked up to the boutique, I ran into the store’s owner Roxane Mann. I told her my dilemma and she immediately sprang into action. Roxane brought me over to Trish (one of the Walk on Water sales associates) who got right on board. While the two of them pulled out clothes for me to try on, I felt like a celebrity. They listened to my concerns (I’m a redhead I don’t wear red/pink colors.) Roxane pulled out some shirts that I was certain I wouldn’t like, but I decided to bring them into the dressing room anyway. She has worked magic for my mom before, and I know she has incredible taste.

Then it was off to the dressing room. I fell in love with the first dress I put on. I knew I was going to like it when I saw it. Then it was time to put on some of the shirts Roxane and Trish had pulled out for me. I was hesitant. I put the first one on. I loved it! I couldn’t believe that it looked good on me AND that I actually liked a shirt with a pattern on it. Then I tried on the jeans that the girls insisted I try on. I might never take them off. They hid everything I don’t like about my body after three kids, and accentuated exactly what I do like. They fit like a glove… I’m in love.

Then I tried on one last shirt. On the hanger the shirt is something I would have NEVER picked out. It had a pattern. The shirt showed my shoulders (cold shoulder is the name of this style). I put it on anyway. I was absolutely dumbfounded – I loved it! Then Trish brought me a super cute hat and a necklace to accessorize with. Both items I wouldn’t have thought to add, but were exactly what the outfits needed to look perfect! On my way to the register I tried on a pair of ankle boots – and my mission was now complete.

I’m ready for my trip to L.A. now. My only problem is figuring out which outfit to wear first. I’ve learned one very valuable lesson throughout the process – trust in Roxane (and her staff). If you love fashion, you’ll love the store. If you’re fashion challenged like me, you can lean on the staff to guide you. You’ll be glad that you did!
