We’ve Got a Thing For Manatees!

Last year our art director, Heather Loomis, traveled about 30 minutes to Orange City Blue Spring Manatee Festival to view one of her favorite mammals – the manatee. Now, it’s your turn! Check out Florida’s only two manatee festivals happening this month. Manatee season runs from mid-November through March.

Crystal River, Manatee Festival

About 1 hour and 45 minutes away

Saturday, January 13th and Sunday, January 14th


The festival promises a wonderful experience in downtown Crystal River and includes:

  • Live entertainment with music on two stages
  • Huge Kid Zone
  • Boat Tours of the bay
  • Free access and shuttle to Three Sisters Springs
  • Fine Art and Crafts
  • Food Vendors

 

Boat tours are approximately 30 minutes long and are available on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the weekend, weather permitting. $10 for adults; children ages 6 to 12 $5; 5 & under free. Tickets will be available at the boat dock, and will be honored only on the day of purchase.

 

The event is $5 per adult. Ages 12 and under are free.

Orange City Blue Spring Manatee Festival

About 35 Minutes away

When: Saturday, January 27 and Sunday, January 28

Valentine Park, Orange City, FL – West French Avenue off of Highway 17-92

Blue Spring State Park is a designated manatee refuge and the winter home to a growing population of West Indian Manatees.

Several hundred manatee can be viewed atop the spring’s overlooks on cold days during manatee season (November - March). The park covers more than 2,600 acres, so while you’re there, take a stroll and enjoy the beautiful Florida outdoors.


The festival includes:

  • Manatee Viewing (FREE shuttle buses will bring you to Blue Spring State Park)
  • Central FL Zoo Presentations & Animal Ambassadors
  • Arts & Crafts Show with Over 100 Booths
  • Music and Dancing!
  • Disc Connected K9s - World Famous Frisbee Dogs
  • Environmental Conservation Displays
  • Children's Area
  • Rock Wall Climbing
  • Bungee Jumping
  • US Army Obstacle Course
  • Walk-on-Water Balls
  • Sand Sculpting

Admission: $8 for adults and $2 for children 4 to 10.

Children under 3 are free. (Dogs: $10)

Shuttle buses will bring you to Blue Spring State Park for manatee viewing.
