Advanced Endodontics

The dreaded root canal.

Few medical procedures have the negative connotation of this treatment, which involves saving a tooth by removing the soft tissue – or pulp – inside it that has become decayed or infected.

Thanks to advances in technology and anesthesia, root canals are actually no longer painful, and the doctors at Advanced Endodontics in Lake Mary are doing their part to change the procedure’s reputation from a bad thing to a good thing.

“We’re changing the face of root canals,” says Dr. Ryan Brennan, DDS, one of the highly qualified specialists at Advanced Endodontics. “Root canals get a bad rap because the toothaches themselves are painful. As endodontists, we are able to relieve that pain. Back in the day, anesthetics didn’t work as well, but so much has changed. Once we get you numb, it really shouldn’t hurt at all, and it will actually relieve your pain.”

While some general dentists still do root canals, there are many advantages to seeing an endodontist who specializes in the treatment. At Advanced Endodontics, root canal treatments are all they do – all day, every day. And the practice has the specialized equipment, such as microscopes and CT scans, to ensure that your root canal is done quickly and perfectly.

“We have a friendly, comfortable environment here, and we offer the highest quality of service and the highest level of advanced technology,” says Dr. Luis Alcalde, DDS, a native of Venezuela who joined the practice in November 2018. “That’s why we’re called Advanced Endodontics.”

The advanced technology at Advanced Endodontics improves the patient’s comfort in other ways, too. In each treatment room, patients have the option to put on headphones and listen to their favorite music or select a favorite movie and watch it on a screen mounted above their examination chair. Nitrous oxide (also known as laughing gas) is also utilized to relax patients before their root canals begin.

“Our main concern is to help our patients, alleviate their pain, and make sure they have a great experience,” Dr. Brennan says. “It’s a quick procedure, and we want to make it as painless and easy as possible so we can get you on your way and feeling good.”
