Brent Zartler admits he was hesitant when his wife Amy suggested they try an indoor cycling class while the two were on vacation in New York City about 13 years ago. But, being a good husband, Brent gave it a try. And he was hooked.

“I ended up loving it,” says Brent, a former Marine and personal trainer who has been passionate about fitness since he was a teen. “As a fitness professional, I loved the energy and the workout and how great I felt afterward. The first thing I thought was, ‘Why isn’t there anything like this in our area?’”

Thanks to Brent and Amy, the Lake Mary area now has such a place. They opened CycleBar Heathrow this past May in The Exchange at Savannah Park. It’s a premium indoor cycling studio where members can experience a full-body exercise program that is both efficient and fun.

CycleBar’s high-energy, low-impact, 45-minute workouts take place in its state-of-the-art theater and are led by its CycleStars – instructors who are part coach, part motivator, and part DJ. When the workout is over, you can have your CycleStats emailed to you so you can track your fitness goals.

Members also get a Ritz Carlton experience from the moment they walk through the door. CycleBar has so many special touches including spa-like bathrooms stocked with amenities and friendly staff members who offer refreshing peppermint-scented towels after your workout.

Unlike other cycling classes, CycleBar programs also incorporate the use of resistance bars for an upper-body workout.
“It’s an amazing way to get a full-body workout on a bike,” Brent says. “We wanted to bring something to the local community that we feel can make a big impact on health and fitness. We wanted it to be a place where people can go to have fun, and the exercise aspect was just part of it.”

Amy also points out that the workouts are suited to all fitness levels.

“People who normally don’t enjoy working out, who wouldn’t step foot in a gym, they come here because it’s different,” she says. “They definitely feel better when they walk out, and that’s why they keep coming back.”

It’s a low-impact workout that anyone can do, Brent adds. Current CycleBar members range in age from 11 to 74.

“It’s a passion of ours, as a couple, to make a positive difference in other people’s lives,” Brent says, “and we’re already seeing changes in our members. We know we’re making a difference.”
