After a lengthy shutdown due to COVID-19 precautions, Kapadia Orthodontics missed its family of patients.
Now with full staff, regular hours, and an emphasis on keeping everyone as safe as possible, Kapadia Orthodontics is getting back into action the same way the practice is always run – responsibly, with patient safety and comfort top of mind.
“We picked up right where we left off,” says Dr. Ajay Kapadia, who, like many of his patients, was raised and educated in Oviedo.
New Normal... At Least For Now
Kapadia Orthodontics still provided some treatment during the closure, meeting patients at the office for emergencies with extra protective measures in place or utilizing virtual technology to ensure patients were well cared for even at home.
“Everyone had my cell phone number,” says Dr. Kapadia. “If there was an emergency – like something poking or breaking – we could do a virtual appointment where I would look in their mouth via FaceTime and try to help over the phone.”
Sometimes, the fix was easy – a little dental wax or easy bending of certain wires. If not, Dr. Kapadia would meet a patient at the office with an extra staffer there to help.
The safety procedure the team honed during the pandemic are still in place to ensure maximum safety without sacrificing patient comfort.
These include confirming health status the day before an appointment, taking the temperature of patients and staff members with a touchless thermometer, adopting personal-protection equipment, installing Plexiglas, limiting people in the building, and realigning foot-traffic flow through the office to allow for more social distancing.
Dr. Kapadia has enjoyed catching up with patients on what they’ve done during the quarantine, whether making memories with family or honing new skills. He has spent time with his own wife and children he wouldn’t have enjoyed otherwise – demonstrating how to grow tomatoes and sunflowers for his kids and teaching his son to ride a bike, for example. He even learned how to cut hair and took virtual art classes online while the office was closed.
“Kapadia Orthodontics was happy to get patients back on track with their orthodontic treatment – safely.” Dr. Kapadia says.
The practice is once again welcoming new patients, and the initial consultation is always free.
