People are living longer than ever before, and that’s great. But there’s something that’s even more important than living a long life: living a healthy life and feeling good on a daily basis.
That’s the focus at Lake Mary Family Care, an integrative medicine practice that has been serving our community since 2001. One of the few remaining independent practices, Lake Mary Family Care is a family business that combines the benefits of traditional medicine with holistic healing.
“At Lake Mary Family Care, we really care about our patients,” says Sydney Dillehay, a certified holistic health practitioner and life transformation expert. “This is relationship-based medicine, where we treat our staff like family and our patients like family, as well. We’re a part of the community, and we’re here to take care of the people of Lake Mary and surrounding areas.
”Working with Michael E. Dillehay, MD (board-certified by the American Board of Family Practice) and family nurse practitioner Sabrina Snedaker, the Lake Mary Family Care team ensures that each of their patients gets the best in personalized care and attention. With both medical and holistic options available, Lake Mary Family Care patients can get help for their existing health problems as well as preventative and wellness alternatives.
For Sydney and Dr. Dillehay, the emphasis on quality of life came into sharp focus in 2016 when their son Zachary passed from cancer at age 20.
“When you have literally a life-altering experience, you can’t help but change your perspective,” Sydney says. “I used to focus on longevity. Now, it’s not so much about how long you want to live, it’s what you want your experience of life to be. How do you want to feel? If you’re walking around with high blood pressure and diabetes and obesity, dealing with those things on a daily basis – from my perspective – is not a pleasant experience.”
Dr. Dillehay, Sabrina, and Sydney have a synergistic team approach to your care. Traditional, standard-of-care medicine combined with healthy eating, exercise, spiritual energy, and meditation make true quality of life a possibility.
“Having a focus on these basics will make a difference in your whole experience of life,” Sydney says. “It’s not about changing everything or cutting out everything. Simple tweaks can lead to significant changes.”
