As a new school year begins, parents and students prepare. We purchase new, shiny supplies and pack them neatly in fresh backpacks to send our students off for another adventure.
But what some students may need more than a pair of squeaky new shoes is the confidence that they can conquer whatever challenge may come their way.
Attorney Mary Beth Kelly has experienced her share of adversity and has emerged on top.
“I’m here to say that you can hit rock-bottom, and it’s okay – but never give up. Nothing comes easy,” she says. “Set yourself, from a young age, to understand this simple fact, and train yourself to be prepared to tackle what tackles you.”
Mary Beth believes in setting goals and celebrating successes.
“Dig deep within your soul to find your passion,” she says. “Think and dream positive, and don’t wait for the final, end-all to celebrate. Allow yourself to experience the joy in a job well-done.”
One of Mary Beth’s recent successes is the purchase of a new office condo, to which her Lake Mary location will be relocating in the fall. After extensive renovations, she and her staff will celebrate with a move and another fresh start.
Mary Beth understands that it takes a village to be successful.
“No one is an island, and we can’t do this life alone,” she says.
She recognizes her supporters – her husband Joe, family, and her amazing staff. She credits Rebecca Packard, legal assistant, and Tiffany Wiley, paralegal, as integral parts of her professional team.
“Relish your supporters and envelop their passion,” says Mary Beth. “Never let a day go by where you take another person for granted.”
Most importantly, Mary Beth believes in putting her trust in God.
“We are all here for a purpose,” she says. “Take however long it takes to figure out your purpose, and then live your life to its fullest.”
Mary Beth devotes her law practice to giving back. She shares her story so that others may have hope.
“It’s very humbling to say that you hit rock-bottom,” says Mary Beth, “but there’s nothing better than truth and honesty.”
Never, ever give up.
