“Memory Lane Cottage at Oviedo is an answer to a prayer for our family,” says Nancy Seaman, daughter of resident Barbara Garland. “The staff shows such care, and the facility is so warm and homelike. They have thought of every possible detail to ensure a wonderful experience for my mother’s life here. Each time we visit, we leave on such a high when we see how happy she is.”
Coming to terms with a family member’s dementia or Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis isn’t easy, and choosing a compassionate environment for your loved one’s care can be equally daunting. Fortunately, the experienced professionals at Memory Lane Cottage at Oviedo are dedicated to providing a loving, intimate memory-care environment where residents retain a sense of independence and dignity.
Designed specifically for individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia-related diseases, Memory Lane Cottage at Oviedo houses just 20 residents, allowing its experienced staff to focus on quality of life.
“Our staffing ratios exceed typical standards because our team is dedicated to no more than 20 residents,” says Robert Matrazzo, COO. “Each of our resident suites opens to a common area to avoid long hallways and confusion when a resident emerges. The suites are fully furnished with specialty furniture and frustration-free features designed for queuing memory, including easy-to-open blinds, individualized climate settings, and 32-inch televisions with activated cable service that can be used as a memory screen with personalized family photos. Our dining room and kitchen have also been designed to allow residents to interact with our chef through a pass-through window, simulating the home environment.”
Memory Lane Cottage at Oviedo residents also have access to a robust activity program that includes cognitive and tactile exercises tailored to meet their preferences and abilities. For those residents who enjoy the outdoors, the grounds include 13,000 square feet of patios, walking trails, seating areas, water features, and gardening stations to promote socialization and daily activity.
“Our team of certified dementia specialists also assists with coordinating physician services, occupational therapy or other related disciplines, and pharmacy orders to ensure each resident’s healthcare needs are addressed in a consistent, timely manner,” says Jerry Erskine, Memory Lane Cottage at Oviedo administrator. “Additionally, our fee structure is all-inclusive and features services such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as medications. Our team is proud to provide individuals in all stages of dementia the care they deserve so they can age with dignity in a safe and comfortable space that honors their life and legacy.”
