In addition to assuring his customers receive professional workmanship, Sanford Electric Company owner Jim DePoy takes pride in providing a reliable and fulfilling livelihood for his team members. Half of Jim’s team of skilled Journeyman, Master Certified Electricians, and administrative employees have been with Sanford Electric for more than a decade.
The company provides both residential and commercial services including repairs, renovations, new construction, and commercial upgrades, and Sanford Electric continues to grow, thanks to increased demand. The team members have all passed extensive background checks and have the broad experience to address any electrical job, which makes them invaluable. As in many trades, there are not enough qualified electricians to meet current industry demand, so the longevity and loyalty of the Sanford Electric team results in excellent customer service and high-quality work for local customers, all at reasonable prices.
Jim, a major Florida State supporter whose daughter is an FSU grad, was with the company for 28 years before earning his Certified Electrical Contractor’s license and eventually buying the family-run business from the original owners. He is an appointed member of the Seminole County Contractor Examiner Board.
Only one member of the Sanford Electric team is not a certified electrician, and that’s Lisa Sullivan, vice president and financial manager. She’s a graduate of the University of Florida, which makes for a charming house divided vibe in the office, especially during football season.
Sanford Electric completes 1,200-1,300 service calls per year on jobs ranging from installing energy-saving LED lighting, generators, smoke detectors, switches, outlets, ceiling fans, surge protectors, landscape lighting, and computer cabling, plus troubleshooting. In fact, Jim and the team have helped many a customer who initially thought they could do an electrical task after reading about it online or watching a YouTube video.
Jim says that no job is too challenging for his staff, and the team has done just about everything before. That includes installing a 150-kilowatt generator at a senior-living center in Orange City – all while the facility was without power.
Sanford Electric is a member of the Greater Sanford Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating. And, they are patrons of the Seminole High School band. Jim and his team pride themselves on creating long-term customer relationships and for being an integral part of the community for almost 100 years.
