Every day of the week, residents at The Watermark at Vistawilla in Winter Springs enjoy the very best amenities, services, and programs that support a fun, healthy, and stress-free environment. From daily morning strolls and outings around town to educational and wellness programming and on-site entertainment and dining, there’s always an opportunity for residents to thrive.
One of the key benefits of living at The Watermark is access and exposure to unique experiences and opportunities, says Karen Donnelly, the community life director. Every month, residents at The Watermark’s two lifestyle neighborhoods – assisted living (The Inn) and memory care (The Gardens) – receive a calendar of events chock-full of events, clubs, and classes for all to enjoy.
Soon, residents can partake in visits to quaint towns throughout Central Florida, SunRail trips for lunch, walks in different parks around town, service projects, shopping trips, movie nights, and much more.
“We’re always thinking about how to make each day, each opportunity extra special,” says Karen. “Our top priority is to ensure residents are thriving.”
Karen also facilitates the community’s Watermark University program, a schedule of meaningful classes taught by associates, residents, family members, and local experts who want to share their interests and passions with residents. Watermark University was created not only to provide an opportunity for seniors to keep their minds sharp and learn something new, but also to engage seniors in an interesting and refreshing way. The 2020 spring semester catalog includes classes on the Apollo 11 mission, the benefits of aromatherapy, how to draw portraits, how to whitewash wood, origins of popular sayings, the science of slime, travel through the USA, and more.
“Everything we do is with residents’ well-being in mind,” says Karen. “By focusing on the seven dimensions of well-being – physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, emotional, environmental, and vocational – we offer the opportunity to achieve a balanced life, and we see the benefits in every class, every day.”
“Watermark University is one of the key reasons people choose to reside here,” adds Ingrid Wildermuth, Watermark’s sales director, who has taught culture classes about her home country of Sweden. “When you’re aging and have worked hard all your life, now is the time to live your golden years. Our goal, our commitment is for residents to live well, have fun, and thrive.”
