When Total Sprinkler & Lighting co-owners Ron Zadwarny and Jessica Davis met nearly 10 years ago, while working for the same commercial landscaping company, it was a match made in entrepreneurial heaven.

The two were paired together when Ron was running the company’s irrigation division and Jessica was working in the office. They spent two years working side-by-side and then in neighboring departments.

“From the beginning, we had a great partnership,” Jessica says. “We worked well together, and our strengths complemented each other. So, when we decided to go into business together, it was a no-brainer.”

Ron, who has 20 years of experience in the landscaping and irrigation industry, enjoys working outdoors and is driven by an entrepreneurial spirit. Jessica, whose background is in corporate administration, has long been socially conscious and enjoys working in an environment where she can also help make the world a better place.

When they decided to open Total Sprinkler & Lighting in April 2017, both had a unique vision for the future.

“Giving back has always been important to us,” Jessica says. “One of the first things we asked ourselves was, ‘What can we do as a company to make an impact on the community?’ We want to be a face for the irrigation and landscape lighting industry and be a company that is environmentally responsible.”

The new business owners have partnered with One Percent for the Planet, an international organization whose members donate at least that percentage of their revenue to help environmental causes. In addition, Jessica and Ron give back by volunteering their time on local projects like watershed cleanups that help improve water quality.

Total Sprinkler & Lighting has also embraced the industry’s latest technology, installing WiFi-compatible systems that can be controlled by smartphones – or voice-activated devices, like Amazon Alexa – and satellite-based systems that can sense when your turf needs water or turn off if there’s rain in the forecast.

“We do anything we can to conserve water,” Ron says.

Another priority for Total Sprinkler & Lighting is to illuminate landscapes with long-lasting LED lights (instead of the halogen bulbs used in older systems), which have the benefits of enhancing your home’s security, improving curb appeal, and saving energy.

So, if you’re looking for a company you can feel good about, give Total Sprinkler & Lighting a call to talk about your irrigation and landscape lighting systems.
