Ladies, your gynecology visits just keep getting better.

Not only is society and the media less apprehensive to talk about vaginal health issues, but advancements in medical technology are helping countless women who have been suffering for years mostly in silence. Indeed, you can’t watch television these days without a spokeswomen talking about such things as leakage, dryness, or intercourse pain, many adding humor to once closeted, yet common issues.

Leading the charge to help women in Central Florida is Christopher Walker, M.D., founder of UroGyn Specialists of Florida, who has treated women with gynecological and urogynecological matters for more than 20 years. In fact, Dr. Walker is one of only a handful of physicians who specialize in both urogynecology and cosmetic gynecology, the practice of treating urinary incontinence, pelvic reconstruction, and cosmetic gynecological concerns.

Keeping with his belief that vaginal and bladder health need not be a hush-hush topic of discussion, Dr. Walker and his staff invite women to unique get-togethers once a month called “Girl’s Night Out.” Throw in some cocktails, hors’ d’oeuvres, and a frank discussion about how to address the issues at hand, and it’s a night women will never forget. Many go home with new knowledge of how to improve their sex lives and how to rid themselves of socially embarrassing conditions that affect their daily life.

And since many vaginal health issues affect women after childbirth and as they age, Dr. Walker is holding a special Cinco de Mayo Mother’s Day inspired “Girl’s Night Out,” complete with margaritas, on May 5 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Please RSVP by May 3 to Space is limited.

All-in-one gynecology

UroGyn Specialists of Florida is indeed a blessing for women. The state-of-the-art facility offers compassionate, expert care in treating vaginal and bladder health. Dr. Walker and his staff include Dr. Nyarai Mushonga, board-certi?ed in urogynecology; Katherine Puig, ARNP; Minedy Laracuente, ARNP; and Parul Patel, ARNP, the newest member to the UroGyn Specialists family. This dynamic team is capable of handling everything from wellness exams, vaginal tightening, and improving sex drives to addressing embarrassing urinary and bowel leakage concerns.

Dr. Walker calls his practice the all-in-one gynecology team capable of serving women from puberty to post-menopause. To make it even more convenient, Dr. Walker now has four locations in the area, including Lake Mary, Orlando, Poinciana, and Kissimmee.

“Our practice is designed to make the patient feel comfortable, and whatever the reason for the visit, we are here to listen and help,” says Dr. Walker. He has designed the demeanor of his boutique practice to promote that comfort with friendly faces and a judgement-free zone where patients are treated like family. Dr. Walker believes women should not be embarrassed or uncomfortable when it comes to addressing or discussing vaginal health, since most women have the same concerns.

If having sex is an issue, whether due to discomfort, changes in appearance, loss of feeling due to childbirth or menopause, or simply a lack of drive, the UroGyn Specialists staff invites you to schedule a consultation. Many of the reasons for discomfort can be addressed through simple in-office procedures, and if the libido needs a kick start, the Ultimate O-Shot can do the trick.

Always seeking the latest advancements in women’s health for his patients, Dr. Walker is now offering ThermiVa treatments. The in-office, non-surgical procedure uses radiofrequency energy to apply heat to tighten regions of the vagina. Not only does it offer vaginal tightening, Dr. Walker says ThermiVa treatments have been known to reduce dryness, improve orgasms, and correct some forms of bladder leakage.

Dr. Walker can also help with vaginal prolapse issues due to weakened muscle tissue. This usually occurs after childbirth or post-menopause. In fact, Dr. Walker has a team of physiotherapists capable of offering computerized Kegels to address this problem.

With a new surgical center and the latest in cosmetic/wellness therapies, there is no need to visit multiple physicians. UroGyn Specialists of Florida is the go-to practice for today’s woman.
