Seminole State College recently received a big check (literally and figuratively) from Bank of America and was recognized as a 2025 Neighborhood Builder. The recognition comes with a number of nonprofit perks, not least of which is a cool $200,000 grant from the bank. Seminole State College plans to use the funds for its Seminole State Commits program to bring no-cost job readiness, workforce training, and continuing education courses into Seminole County’s most underserved neighborhoods. Laura Schumacher, director of development for the Foundation for Seminole State College of Florida, will also participate in a two-year leadership training program sponsored by Bank of America for emerging nonprofit leaders.
