What’s better on a hot summer day than a yummy frozen treat? Italian ice, frozen custard, blenders, and other chilled goodies can all be found at Rita’s of Sanford. The fan favorite is the delectable gelati, a mixture of Italian ice and frozen custard. While vanilla-mango gelato is the top seller, Rita’s offers a variety of delicious flavors every day plus limited-time specials to tempt all taste buds.

The family-owned and operated shop is part of a national frozen dessert company and is known for its fresh ingredients. 

“The ice is made fresh daily, and we use real ingredients,” says Andrew Bell, co-owner of Rita’s of Sanford. “If the treat is fruit-flavored, we use real chunks of that fruit. The quality is extremely important.”

Daily offerings and fun promotions can be found on the store’s website and social media, which includes an app that allows you to select your favorite flavor and get a cool alert when it’s on the menu. For those who don’t want to brave the summer heat, Rita’s partners with Uber for deliveries.

And you can feel good about eating those delicious treats because Rita’s of Sanford supports local schools and sports programs and battles childhood cancer in partnership with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
