Skinology Medical Spa

Medical esthetics, the science-infused care and treatment of the skin, is an industry rife with fads. And in today’s influencer culture – where a single Instagram post can turn just about anything into a new must-have – we can’t forget the ever-present danger of the bad influence.

Fortunately, Skinology founder Selena Rocker is always on the lookout for bad fads and always keeps the beauty and safety of her clients top of mind. So when Skinology introduces new products and tools to help bring out the inner beauty of clients in Oviedo-Winter Springs and beyond, you know they’re the real deal.

“New, expensive, and unproven things are popping up all the time,” says Selena, who opened Skinology in Oviedo more than a decade ago and brings priceless experience and perspective to the always-evolving industry. “But do they really work? And, more importantly, are they safe? I watch, and I wait, and I give new trends time to prove themselves. When they’re ready, that’s when I bring them here, when I know they are safe, effective, and affordable for the clients I care about so much.”

The HydraFacial is Happening!

Skinology’s signature new beauty service is the HydraFacial. It’s a deep-cleaning treatment that exfoliates, polishes, hydrates, and cleanses the skin using a small wand that, in layman’s terms, is one-part pressure washer and one-part carpet cleaner for the face.

Like a pressure washer, the HydraFacial wand painlessly showers the skin in a rejuvenating combination of hydrating agents and nutrients. The nourishing mixture of elixers gently exfoliates the top layer of skin and moisturizes the glowing skin below. Meanwhile, like a carpet cleaner, the wand uses gentle vacuum suction to extract debris and unwanted oils from pores.

If they want, the bravest clients can even see what the HydraFacial wand has brought up once it’s been sucked into the machine’s onboard reservoir, which is playfully called the “gunky jar.”

“It’s just like when you’ve finished cleaning the carpets in your home,” says Selena. “Your carpet looked pretty good before you started, but when you go to dump the water out of the carpet cleaner, it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh! I can’t believe all that was hiding beneath the surface.’ Our skin is the same way. The HydraFacial lets our skin come to life once all the underlying gunk is removed.”

The other advantage of HydraFacial treatment is speed. There are three levels of cleansing available, and the Signature level can be done in 30 minutes, perfect for a lunch-hour rejuvenation. Deluxe and Platinum levels of cleaning don’t take much longer. The Platinum level even includes a lymphatic massage and can still be done in 90 minutes.

“This technology has been emerging for a while, and now it’s ready,” says Selena, “and the results are wonderful.”

A Peel Without the Peel

Another new treatment on the menu at Skinology is the biorevitalization peel PRX-T33. While it has a name only a scientist could love, PRX-T33 is earning rave reviews from clients by delivering all the benefits of a chemical peel without the visual side effects and downtime.

During a relaxing session – again as short as 30 minutes – the PRX-T33 serum is massaged into the skin, which is then washed, rinsed, and moisturized. The serum penetrates the skin down into the dermis and encourages tightening of lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin.

“This treatment is the first of its kind that goes as deep as it does with no downtime,” says Selena. “After the treatment, you don’t turn red, you don’t have to stay out of the sun, you don’t have to limit your activity – none of that. Everything happens beneath the skin. That’s why it’s called the peel without the peel.”

These new services complement the full range of treatments at Skinology, all delivered by a caring and highly-trained staff under the supervision of Skinology’s medical director, Selena’s husband Jeffry Rocker, D.O.

And the team relishes its role in the community. Skinology isn’t just a place to go to look better, it’s a place where clients feel better surrounded by friends who care about their well-being inside and out.

“We’ve been part of this community a long time,” says Selena. “That’s why I’m so careful with the things we offer. I care about everyone who walks through this door. I only want the very best for them.”
