Underground One

Oviedo has a new personal care center in town, one that offers an experience unlike other barbershops or salons. Underground One is a welcome addition to the community, providing a space for genuine connection within its aesthetically engaging shop at Oviedo on the Park.
The family-centric Underground One was founded by Maria and Joao Coral, with their first shop opening on International Drive in Orlando in 2021. In January, they expanded to Oviedo, bringing with them a refreshing, inclusive approach to self-care.
The Oviedo shop offers premium barbering services for men and women, as well as haircuts for kids. Underground One has a multicultural team that speaks several languages, warmly welcoming everyone who walks through the doors.
Livia Souza, marketing and brand representative, says the Underground
moniker refers to the company’s culture – a strong connection to the earth, with a solid foundation and deep local roots.
“We believe in the power of self-expression, art, and beauty to transform people and connect communities,” says Livia.
In addition to traditional appointments for individual services and walk-in availability, the shop features three membership plans, which offer clients expanded experiences that include discounted haircuts, happy hours, and networking opportunities.
At Underground One, children have their own Kids Zone within the shop, with bright color schemes, activity books, and custom barber chairs resembling cars. A parent and child can even get their hair cut together, further building on the family atmosphere.
In addition, the staff is trained to offer personalized service and sensory haircuts for neurodivergent individuals.
“We have created a safe space for children and adults,” says Tiano Black, head barber and in-house manager, who has been styling hair for more than 20 years. “In Portuguese, we call that refugio.”
Another of the shop’s seasoned barbers, Henry Davila, says Oviedo has been extremely welcoming to the team at Underground One and appreciative of the company’s community-minded approach.
“Here, our clients are not just a number,” says Henry, an Oviedo resident, himself. “They are part of our family.”
