Founded in 1948 as both an orphanage and a retirement home for pastors with limited income, Lutheran Haven in Oviedo has evolved into one of Central Florida’s premier retirement communities.
“We are here to help seniors age in place gracefully,” says Lillian Liciaga, Lutheran Haven’s healthcare marketing coordinator.
Today, Lutheran Haven honors its rich legacy while offering a full continuum of care for seniors. The community provides independent living options for Lutherans, as well as assisted living, memory care, outpatient rehabilitation, and private duty home care services – available to local seniors of all faiths.
Its assisted living and memory care residences, The Harbor and The Lodge, proudly hold the highest level of licensure available in Florida for their respective care settings.
The newest addition to the Haven’s services, Lutheran Haven Therapy, brings outpatient rehabilitation not only to its residents but also to the broader Oviedo and Winter Springs communities. Expert therapists support recovery for a wide range of conditions, including knee injuries, cognitive decline, occupational injuries, stroke rehabilitation, swallowing disorders, arthritis, foot pain, and fall prevention.
A standout feature of the therapy program is the Aquatic Center, which offers residents and therapy patients alike a chance to build strength, improve balance, and stay active through water-based exercises. Aquatic fitness classes are open to all Lutheran Haven residents, providing both therapeutic and social benefits.
Recognizing that the healthcare landscape is ever-changing, Lutheran Haven continues to grow. A recent expansion added 30 assisted living apartments, along with a new multipurpose room and a game room/pub.
“These are great gathering spots for residents to visit, connect, and enjoy our many community events,” says Lillian. “Our goal is to create a warm, welcoming environment where seniors can live life fully – with the right support, services, and meaningful social connection.”
