One Senior Place

by Georgia Rivas

Twenty years ago, the senior services landscape was fragmented and anything but user-friendly. Families trying to navigate healthcare, housing, insurance, and support options were often unsure where to begin. There was no central starting point – no place that gathered essential resources and professional guidance under one roof.

“One Senior Place was created for one reason,” says founder Don Kramer. “Seniors and their families needed somewhere they could walk into and immediately feel supported, informed, and pointed in the right direction. They needed one place to go when everything else felt overwhelming. Here we provide that, and it’s completely free. We offer free consultations and endless free resources.”

This year, One Senior Place celebrates a major milestone: the 20th anniversary of its first location in Melbourne. After six successful years serving Brevard County, the company expanded to Greater Orlando with its Altamonte Springs location. What began as a bold new concept has evolved into a trusted hub that continues to grow as the needs and expectations of older adults change.

Before launching One Senior Place, Don owned an in-home care company and began noticing a pattern.

“Seniors had no idea where to start when looking at all their options,” he says, “and they needed clarity.”

That realization became the blueprint for One Senior Place: a welcoming destination where older adults could find vetted professionals under one roof, including elder law attorneys, in-home care providers, Medicare experts, hearing specialists, and more. At the company’s core would be unbiased advice from trained care managers who could help families avoid costly missteps.

“The advice we give matters in a big way,” says Don. “Our job is to listen, understand a person’s whole situation, and recommend what truly fits, not just what sounds good in the moment. Trust has become our company’s greatest strength.”

Twenty years ago, most visitors were part of the Greatest Generation – typically less comfortable with technology and often hesitant to ask questions. Today, the picture is very different. Baby Boomers, now roughly 60 to 80 years old, make up the majority of clients.

“Boomers are our core demographic now,” says Don. “They’re tech-savvy, better informed, and more engaged in planning their futures.”

As seniors’ needs evolved, so did One Senior Place. The center expanded its partner offerings, added new service categories, and developed a robust calendar of educational and social programming. Workshops, support groups, Medicare classes, fitness activities, and expert-led events now fill the building. At a time when many older adults face social isolation, One Senior Place has become a welcoming space to connect as much as a one-stop shop to find answers.

“Seniors should feel comfortable and safe and enjoy the experience,” says Don. “We want them to feel like they’re part of a community the moment they walk in.”

That community atmosphere ties directly into the company’s commitment to integrity. Older adults who meet with One Senior Place care managers quickly discover the guidance they receive is personalized, thoughtful, and free of sales pressure. The only goal is to help families make decisions that will support them now and in the future.

Just two years after opening its doors, One Senior Place was named Florida’s Small Business of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. And as recently as 2025, founder Don Kramer was recognized during Older Americans Month for his contributions to successful aging in Central Florida.

For One Senior Place, the future will bring expanded educational offerings, additional service partnerships, and new ways to meet the fast-changing expectations of today’s older adults.

Looking back, Don is proud of how far the company has come, and he is even more excited about what lies ahead.

“We set out to create something simple that helps people during one of life’s most overwhelming seasons,” he says. “Twenty years later, that mission has only grown stronger.”
