Uptown Cheapskate

For sisters Meg Sams and Weatherly Morgan, thrifting isn’t just a business – it’s a family tradition.

Growing up in a large family, Meg, Weatherly and their siblings frequently watched their father hunt for treasures in thrift stores, antique shops, and resale boutiques. His passion for finding unique items and great deals left a lasting impression on the whole family.

Today, that shared love of resale shopping has evolved into Uptown Cheapskate Oviedo, a locally owned store operated by Meg, Weatherly, and Weatherly’s husband, Bill.

“Dad would have loved this,” says Meg. “Thrifting has always been part of our family.”

After owning a successful Uptown Cheapskate store in Atlanta, Georgia, Meg saw an opportunity to bring the concept to

Central Florida. The location is special to Meg because Bill is an alumnus of the University of Central Florida, making Oviedo and the surrounding community a natural fit.

Located in a spacious 4,500-square-foot store, Uptown Cheapskate offers a modern resale experience that feels very different from a traditional thrift shop. Customers can browse stylish, gently used clothing, shoes, handbags, and accessories from sought-after brands such as Free People and lululemon, often at up to 70 percent below retail prices.

The process is simple. Customers bring in gently used clothing and accessories, and the store’s trained buyers evaluate the items on the spot. Sellers can receive cash immediately or opt for even greater value in store credit. Any clothing that doesn’t meet the store’s buying criteria can be donated to support The National Children’s Cancer Society, which also helps divert clothing from landfills.

“Thrifting is trendy with the younger generations,” says Meg, “and I also see it as a need and staple for the economy.”

Beyond fashion, Uptown Cheapskate is deeply invested in the local community, sponsoring athletic programs at Oviedo and Hagerty high schools while fostering a family-oriented workplace culture.

“We treat our employees like family, too,” says Meg. “We are a real close-knit group.”

Whether you’re looking to refresh your wardrobe, earn extra cash, or shop more sustainably, Uptown Cheapskate Oviedo offers a stylish, affordable, and community-focused shopping experience.
