Little Greek Fresh Grill
by Susan Shalhoub
For Scott Lyon, owner of Little Greek Fresh Grill in Lake Mary, this community is home. Scott grew up here, went to Lake Mary High School, and graduated from the University of Central Florida.
Scott began his career in restaurants, switched to the mortgage business, and then returned to the restaurant industry in 2022. A longtime fan of Little Greek’s pitas, gyros, and other traditional fare, Scott took over the Lake Mary location at 237 Wheelhouse Lane last year.
“I loved the mortgage business but wanted to be home more with my family and not travel so much,” he says. “In any business, it’s really all about caring about the people.”
Little Greek has been open in Lake Mary for a few years, so local residents are already familiar with its quality ingredients and fresh Greek food.
Founded by Estonian immigrant Sigrid Bratic in 2004, Little Greek Fresh Grill first opened in Palm Harbor, Florida and now has locations in six states. Sigrid has a passion for authentic, flavorful food and first-rate ingredients – and it’s one that Scott shares.
“We know our gyros are the best,” he says. “You won’t find pita bread like ours anywhere else. Our dolmades are time-intensive to make but worth the effort. You know it when you taste them.”
No shortcuts are taken, either. Little Greek’s meats are marinated and grilled on site, and its tzatziki sauce and Greek dressing are homemade. The restaurant’s delectable food regularly elicits rave reviews.
At the Lake Mary location, customers will soon be able to enjoy covered outdoor seating, upgraded art, and digital wall menus, all of which will enhance their dining experience.
The care that goes into Little Greek’s food also spills over into the restaurant’s support of its community.
Scott has been a proud member of HomeAid Orlando’s board of directors since 2020, and Little Greek Fresh Grill is now an official sponsor of the organization. HomeAid is a nonprofit that helps build new lives for the Orlando area’s homeless population with housing, community outreach, and awareness.
Whether you’re already a devotee of Little Greek Fresh Grill or a newcomer, Scott and his team are looking forward to welcoming you to a restaurant that is dedicated to its food, customers, and community.
